Driver Charged With DUI For Killing 18-Year-Old

BETHANY, Conn. – 18-year-old Robert Weidig Jr. of Bethany was killed Friday night after he was hit while walking on Route 69 in Bethany.

According to the Connecticut State Police, the 18-year-old was walking in the right shoulder of Route 69 in Bethany when he was struck by a car.

60-year-old Barbara Ross of Cheshire was identified as the driver of the vehicle. She remained unharmed in the crash, but Robert Weidig Jr. died of his injuries.

Ross was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in proper lane. She was released on $5,000 bond and was expected to appear in court on January 14.

The incident is still under investigation.
