25-Year-Old Trumbull Woman Facing 5 Years In Prison For DUI Crash
BRIDGEPORT – 25-year-old Denisse Garcia has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for a DUI accident that occurred in 2015. On Thursday, she pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and running into a state department of Transportation worker on Route 15.
Gracia pleaded guilty in front of Superior Court Judge Earl Richards to first-degree assault and DUI. Assistant State’s lawyer recommended Garcia to serve 5 years in jail when she was sentenced on 18th of May.
The victim, identified as 55-year-old Kevin Holloran, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He suffered permanent brain damage due to the accident. He also suffered 4 broken ribs. After spending multiple days in a coma, he was later transferred to a rehabilitation center where he had to relearn to walk and feed because the accident made him unable to walk and eat by himself.
Police told that Holloran was called to Route 15 southbound http://www.buyambienmed.com near Exit 53 in Stratford around 2 a.m. on 26th of April 2015 for an accident. He was setting up traffic cones and flares at the accident spot when he was hit by a 2011 Toyota Corolla being driven by Garcia. He was thrown 10 feet from the place where he was hit.
The state police found Garcia sitting in the driver’s seat of her motor vehicle after approaching the accident spot. Cops observed a strong smell of alcoholic beverages coming from inside the car. Garcia told the cops that she only consumed one margarita at a New Haven bar prior to driving, according to the State police.
Blood was drawn for the BAC level test which showed that she was driving with a BAC level of 0.12%, which is almost double the legal limit allowed for driving in the State.
