West Haven Man Arrested For Driving The Wrong Way On Route 8 While Under The Influence
38-year-old Timothy Michael Ryan has been taken into custody for going the wrong way on Route 8 while he was intoxicated.
He was charged with DUI and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
2 vehicles were going northbound on Route 8; one was going in the left lane and the other in the right lane. Ryan was going southbound in a 2012 Ford Escape which hit a 2011 Honda CRV that was going in the left lane.
It was shown by a report that the collision sent CRV into the right lane. The person behind the wheel of the 2016 Nissan Rogue in the right northbound lane didn’t succeed in slowing the speed of the vehicle and it hit the CRV. “From the impact, (the CRV) veered across both lanes, and the driver’s side rear quarter panel struck the concrete Jersey barrier in the median. All three vehicles had heavy front end damage with airbag deployment.”
The accident happened on Wednesday around 7 p.m. near Exit 32 in Waterbury while left 4 individuals injured.
4 individuals were travelling in the CRV and 3 of them were rushed to the hospital. The individual behind the wheel of the Nissan Rogue was also transported to the hospital as he was complaining of chest pain.
Ryan was taken into custody on the accident spot as he was issued a field sobriety test which he didn’t pass.
He is summoned to Waterbury Superior Court on 10th of January. His bond was set at $2,500.
