Principal of Litchfield High School arrested for DUI in Torrington, Connecticut
According to the police, Litchfield High School Principal, Kristen Della Volpe, was taken into custody for DUI on Saturday.
44-year-old Della Volpe was charged for DUI on East Main Street after police officers received a call from an ambulance crew of an erratic driver who was travelling on Route 8.
Lt. Bruce Whiteley told that a police officer received a report midnight Saturday about an individual driving erratically in the area. The officer approached the area and saw a Nissan Altima matching the description of the vehicle in line at Burger King that is located near an exit off Route 8. The officer went near the Nissan on foot and issued a field sobriety test to Della Volpe in which she failed.
She was released on $1,000 bond and is summoned to Bantam Superior Court on 13th of January.
In December 2007, Della Volpe took the job after over a decade teaching English at Ansonia High School and several years at Pomperaug High School. Litchfield Public Schools Superintendent Deborah S. Wheeler declined to comment on the incident and whether Della Volpe would remain the principal at Litchfield High School after the weekend arrest or not.
