Local man charged with drunk driving after nearly running over Connecticut Police Officers

GLASTONBURY, Conn. – 33-year-old Christopher P. Serra was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol over the weekend after he drove through a scene crowded with police from different agencies and almost hit 2 officers, according to the police.

Police said, Christopher P. Serra was charged with driving under the influence and was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court in Manchester on 23rd of April.

On Saturday, the arrest happened around 1:30 a.m. on Route 17, when Glastonbury officers were helping Hartford police and state troopers at a traffic stop, Agent James Kennedy said on Monday. According to him, they chased the vehicle going from Route 3 north to Route 2 east to Route 17 south.

Glastonbury police were not involved in the pursuit, said Kennedy.”There was a whole slew of police cars,” some from Hartford and some from the state police. Serra attempted to drive through the scene, despite the fact that the police vehicles had their emergency lights on.

Police stopped him when he almost struck 2 police officers, according to the police.

On Monday night, Serra declined to comment on the incident.
