Greenwich police cracking down on drunken driving

GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich police are cracking down on drunken driving, just for the holiday season.

Over the past month, the number of police officers increased and late night also the weekend road presence increased to pull over individuals driving drunk, according to the Greenwich Time reports.

According to the police, the increased presence is giving benefits. Since the beginning of 25th of November, many DUI arrests have been made in Greenwich. This month, 10 individuals were taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Christmas and New Year’s Day are among the most dangerous driving days of the year because the drunk driving crashes increases during that time period. The statistics do not include arrests that were made on Interstate 95 or the Merritt Parkway that are in the jurisdiction of the State Police.

The crackdown is set to continue through New Year’s Day.
