Connecticut state trooper arrests Massachusetts man for DUI with extremely high BAC

RICHMOND, R.I. – According to the Rhode Island State Police, a 43-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Saturday evening. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.362.The legal limit is 0.8 and the results of his breath sample showed that his blood alcohol content was 4½ times more than the legal limit.

Col. Steven G. O’Donnell told that an off-duty Connecticut state trooper called 911 and reported a suspected drunk driver on Saturday night. Thomas J. Eaton was driving his car on a Richmond highway and was pulled over on Rt. 3 in Richmond.

Troopers stopped the car and Eaton was given two breath tests to determine his blood alcohol content. The first reading came out to be 0.362% and the second came back as 0.356%. He was arrested on charges of DUI and driving on a suspended license.

Police said that he was also arrested and charged for driving under the influence in 2005 and 2008. This was his third DUI arrest.

O’Donnell said that Eaton was arraigned and is being held at the Department of Corrections.
