25-year-old man charged with DUI after colliding with Middletown Police Cruiser

Christopher Griffiths, 25, is charged with driving under the influence and other offenses after hitting a Middletown police cruiser at the intersection of Washington and High streets overnight.

On Sunday, the accident occurred near Wesleyan University at about 1 a.m.

Officer Patrick Kiely was stopped at a red light when a Ford Focus, driven by Christopher Griffiths, hit him from behind, according to the police.

Police said, Kiely sustained non-life https://xenicallab.com threatening injuries and was taken to the Middlesex Hospital; after some time he was released.

Griffiths was not injured in the accident. His passenger, Rudy Lockhart, 24, was also taken to Middlesex Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Griffiths was charged with DUI, operating with a suspended license and traveling too fast for conditions.

Lockhart was charged with possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana.
