On Monday, a 31-year-old Bridgeport woman was taken into custody by Fairfield police and she was charged with reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated and other offenses in connection with the accident which happened a week ago when her vehicle drove at high speed into a Fairfield gas station/convenience store and left 4 individuals injured.
According to Fairfield police, Rosa Blanca Chavarria-Medina was arrested at the Bridgeport Police Department. She was in hospital with non-life threatening injuries but had left the hospital on Thursday, when police received a warrant for her arrest.
It was stated in a news release, “She was arrested after it was determined that while operating a black 1998 Nissan Maxima, committed the crimes of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes (53a-63), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes (14-227a), Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes (14-215), Reckless Driving, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes (14-222), Passing on the Right, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes (14-231) and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes (14-301)”.
Rosa Blanca was released on a $5,000 bond.
On Monday night, 4 individuals were injured and 6 vehicles were damaged as the car driving on exit 24 off I-95 in Fairfield crossed a roadway and slammed at high rate of speed into the Cumberland Farms parking lot.
