An assistant football coach at Darien High School, Christian Garnett, is facing multiple charges after Norwalk police stopped him on early Thursday.
At about 12:41 a.m., an officer stopped 32-year-old Garnett of Stamford after he saw him driving his vehicle on 3 tires and 1 rim on Connecticut Avenue. Police said that Garnett also failed field sobriety tests and then “violently struggled with the officers attempting to handcuff him”.
Officers charged him and took him into custody for interfering with a police officer, assault on a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated.
He is accused of kicking an officer attempting to take him into custody and was punched in the face by another officer and subdued by a stun gun. He was still aggressive when taken to Norwalk Hospital and was handcuffed to a bed, said police.
