Norwalk Man Arrested For DUI After Accident

A Norwalk man was arrested for operating under the influence and failure to drive in proper lane Thursday night on Saugatuck Avenue.

Capt. Samuel Arciola reported that the investigating officer detected an odor of alcohol on his breath while speaking to the accused. The drivers speech was also slurred and his eyes appeared to be bloodshot.

The driver, who was identified as 39-year-old Christopher Martens, also failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. After that he refused to take a breathalyzer test when taken to the police headquarters.

Martens was released after posting a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday, Nov. 16.
