9 DUI Arrests Made And 393 Speeding Tickets Issued By Connecticut State Police

MIDDLETOWN – Connecticut State Police made 9 DUI arrests during the first day of the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend enforcement efforts.

A press release from State Police released Thursday also stated that 393 speeding arrests were made in addition to the DUI arrests. 56 tickets were issued for seatbelt violations and 904 other hazardous moving violations were also recorded. These included unsafe lane change, cell phone usage, texting, following too closely, and failure to signal.

146 accidents were also investigated by State Police during the time span, 17 of which had injuries. However, no fatal accidents were recorded.

This year’s Thanksgiving Holiday weekend enforcement efforts began at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Nov, 29.

“Troopers patrolled roads and highways across Connecticut, focusing on drunk driving violations and aggressive drivers,” the release stated.

During the same operation in 2014, 52 DUI arrests were made by state police. Apart from the DUI arrests, 1,106 speeding arrests were made, 314 seatbelt violations were issued, and 3,538 other hazardous moving violations were recorded. A total of 934 accidents were investigated by the police, 97 accidents involved injuries and one was fatal.
